Toy Review: Transformers BotBots Snuggle Puggle (Series 5)

Name:  Snuggle Puggle
Brand:  Transformers
Allegiance:  N/A
Line:  BotBot
Year of Release:  2020
Size Class:  BotBot (Series 5)
Mold Status:  new

ALTERNATE MODE:

Snuggle Puggle transforms into a neck cushion, and while this may not be obvious at first glance, once you realize that he's part of the Frequent Flyers subgroup and make the connection, it's a pretty cool alternate mode.

As a BotBot, Snuggle Puggle is small, above is a comparison against Legion Barricade.

It's not a perfect alternate mode given the transformation panel lines and exposed robot parts, but does a reasonably good job.

TRANSFORMATION:

At each end are two legs that you can flip down.  One end will have a panel that you can flip open and back to reveal the face, while the other end has the tail.

ROBOT MODE:

This is definitely one of the more inventive and clever robot modes in the BotBots line.  Snuggle Puggle can even pull off being an organic dog rather than a robotic one.

While the arch for his torso is a bit weird, the robot mode works surprisingly well.

The face is on the cuter side, and is the only place where the figure is painted.  It's situated on a balljoint but the way it is attached means it's more for rotating the head rather than having him look left and right.

Snuggle Puggle remains short and small in this mode, above is a size comparison with Legion Crosshairs.

Articulation is not great.  All the legs are on hinge joints but that's the extent and there's limited poses that he can pull off.

Nevertheless, this is a wonderfully novel robot mode.

OVERALL:

Snuggle Puggle is a really neat little figure, like most of the BotBots line.  The neck cushion and an unorthodox choice of a robot mode really sells the figure and makes him standout among other Transformers.
