Book Review: Barnaby Grimes: Return of the Emerald Skull
Review: #69
Title: Barnaby Grimes: Return of the Emerald Skull
Series: Barnaby Grimes - 2nd book
Author: Paul Stewart and Chris Riddell
Read Before: no
My Comments: First off, this is a great series of books, and this title is no exception to the standard, although if I must be picky, it may be slightly weaker than the first and third book (the ones I had read already). The mystery and suspense throughout this book is handled very well, and I love it how with the series, the first chapter of every book reveals the climax (in a mysterious way) making you want to read the book faster in order to get to that book and find out what happens, and why it happens. The world that the authors have created is rich and interesting; it makes you want to know more. Although one point that I do feel is a bit… disappointing is that the main character always meets a pretty girl, but yet they never follow it up in the next book, kinda like James Bond. The occasional illustrations complement the text really well.
