Book Review: Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief: The Graphic Novel
Review: #63
Title: Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief: The Graphic Novel
Series: Percy Jackson and the Olympians (Graphic Novel Book 1)
Author: Rick Riordan, adapted by Robert Venditti
Read Before: no
My Comments: A lot better than I had anticipated and expected, I don't really like the drawings, it makes the characters look too ugly, if it was manga style then it would be better and more pleasing to the eye. You do get used to it and the storytelling is quite nice, it’s much more fast paced than the book, but it feels a bit abrupt sometimes when transitioning between scenes, mainly because it doesn't include Percy’s thoughts. The storytelling would be a lot better if it was longer coz it really feels incomplete, I don't mind skipping all the stuff that they had, but the explanation is done really badly and makes it hard for newcomers (who haven’t read the book) to understand what is really going on. Most of the humor is lost, but what is in there makes you chuckle. A pretty good experience overall, and one that I recommend giving it a chance, as I think it’s about on par with the book, and it wouldn't take you long anyway, very easily finish it within a few hours.
