Book Review: The Mysterious Benedict Society and the Prisoner's Dilemma

Review:  #212
Title:  The Mysterious Benedict Society and the Prisoner's Dilemma
Series:  The Mysterious Benedict Society - 3rd book
Author:  Trenton Lee Stewart
Read Before:  no
My Comments:  To be honest, reading the first book, I don’t really think there was such an urgent need for a sequel, let alone two.  Like the first book, the plot of this one feels like it never takes off.  It seems to drag on pointlessly, almost as if it is filling the space with something to make up the length.  Even into the meat of the book, the story doesn't picks up, and you don’t get the feel that you’re at that point where everything climaxes.  The only thing I can compare it to is that the feel of the book is a flat line.  They story wasn't engaging, and the characters didn't really evolve much, they’re still the same, and honestly, somewhat annoying.  I think the thing that I am complaining is that there is no urgency in the plot, they characters have all stated that they have to stop Mr Curtain, but he never felt like a threat anyway.  The author tries to be mysterious with some facts, but they are shallow and they’re not even properly answered anyway.  It was just a bland experience.
