Book Review: Twister

Review:  #281
Title:  Twister
Series:  The Code Red Adventures - 5th book
Author:  Chris Ryan
Read Before:  yes
My Comments:  Another amazing book by the author.  It was intense from the moment it started til the ending.  While The Code Red Adventures centre on disasters happening (more often than not, a natural disaster), the book focuses upon a kidnapping, and how Ben (who just happens to be at the wrong place at the wrong time) tries to escape.  There is tension and suspense the whole way through, especially when the group was getting through a national park after their plane had crashed.  There were some very stressful encounters with the wildlife that is not paralleled by any other books.  I was surprised at the cruelty and coldness of the mercenary; I guess there is always a need for these kinds of antagonists.  The way Ben appealed to his captor and the way everything worked out in the end can be regarded as expected.  The way the disaster and kidnapping was balanced was well done.  Needless to say, the deaths felt personal, and very brutal.  The message of the damage the developed world is inflicting upon other people was made clear, and you feel a sense of injustice.  This is a page turner, and one that’s great to read and reread.
