Finding Nemo
The classic, I can't even believe that it's been nearly a decade since this was released. One of the best in the line of Disney Pixar movies, I remembered that this caused a worldwide phenomenon when it was released. The story was catchy and the relationship between Nemo (the titular character) and Marlin (his dad as he races across the ocean to save his son) was touching and executed very well. You feel his hopelessness and despair, the pain, the hurt and the protectiveness of a father. Dory was an interesting addition though, but her forgetfulness is something that's funny and grabs your heart immediately. Obviously, the movie gets exponentially better and better once Nemo gets abducted and Marlin sets out on his adventure. There's something special about a father searching for his lost son. The friends he meets along the way were interesting, from the shark to the turtles, even the jellyfish forest was a visual spectacle. I can't think of any cliche moments, everything still feels as fresh as it was years ago. The animation is stunning, and while switching between parties is a story telling technique that I don't quite like, it was executed beautifully here. Still a very worthwhile movie to watch (again and again and again).
