Book Review: Persuasion

Review:  #294
Title:  Persuasion
Series:  N/A
Author:  Jane Austen
Read Before:  no
My Comments:  The relationship here between Anne and Wentworth isn’t as well developed as you would have liked.  I liked the premise, how they separated eight years ago but their passion for each other reignited when they met again, however, it was the reigniting part that felt lacking.  Starting with the beginning, the story took too long to set up and was fairly dull to chug through.  It was at around the time when the party went to Lyme that it started getting a bit more interesting.  I think the most interesting part was finding out the true nature of Mr Elliot.  There were never really true displays of attraction between Anne and Wentworth, it was mostly guessing on both sides, and their actions didn't hint at too much, this was the reason why it didn't feel like such a good love story.  Personally, I feel that a lot of unnecessary events occurred, and would have liked it if the two characters were in contact with each other more and the significance of each event was brought out more.
