Book Review: Dragonborn

Review:  #350
Title:  Dragonborn
Series:  The Flaxfield Quartet - 1st book
Author:  Toby Forward
Read Before:  no
My Comments:  It was hard getting into this book.  The book is split into five parts, the first part is the more interesting, although that isn’t saying much, and then the book gradually becomes more and more confusing.  The biggest problem here is that the author never bothered explaining the rules of the world, neither directly or indirectly through the actions of the characters.  There was no clear plot and even by the end of the book, you’re left wondering just what happened and what it all meant.  Each section of the book felt completely different from the others, like it was a different book.  The atmosphere and tone would constantly change.  The number of perspectives is ridiculous; and when you’re thrust from each perspective to another (even for a one or two paragraphs), it gets confusing really fast.  The book doesn’t make much sense since things seem so scattered, and you’re left wondering what the meanings of the events were.
