Book Review: W.A.R.P. The Reluctant Assassin

Review:  #418
Title:  W.A.R.P. The Reluctant Assassin
Series:  W.A.R.P. - 1st book
Author:  Eoin Colfer
Read Before:  no
My Comments:  It doesn’t exactly have the most promising premise; it involves a time machine where the present day authorities send witnesses into the past.  Okay, maybe that does sound interesting but the actual plot and what it involves didn’t live to its full potential.  The first half of the story was fairly average and there was nothing outstanding.  However, the story gets better, even though there were a few typical, predictable events.  There is even a little bit of a crossover with the author’s other works, which was sweet.  The protagonists don’t develop too much but they are likeable.  The antagonist is formidable, but his powers feel cheaty.  His downfall was also disappointing and bitterly short.  This thing that’s missing most here is the wisecrack and humor but otherwise, a solid story.
