Book Review: The Storm Makers

Review:  #433
Title:  The Storm Makers
Series:  N/A
Author:  Jennifer E Smith
Read Before:  no
My Comments:  The plot doesn’t rise to your expectations; it’s not that it is bad but just that it had more potential.  It doesn’t provide a bang in the climax like what you would expect and hope for.  The antagonist seemed threatening and he is, yet he doesn’t do any dramatic thing or there wasn’t a big showdown by the end.  The first half of the book presents so many unanswered questions which are, by and large, mostly answered.  There are two protagonists, the one who has the power to manipulate the weather, and the narrator, his twin sister, Ruby.  Throughout the whole book, Ruby is the rational one and Simon becomes annoying when he doesn’t listen to anyone.  It feels unfair that he’s got the powers but doesn’t seem like he deserved it.  Overall, the events that happen doesn’t suck you in and it can feel dragging at times.
