Book Review: The Battle for WondLa

Review:  #457
Title:  The Battle for WondLa
Series:  WondLa - 3rd and final book
Author:  Tony DiTerlizzi
Read Before:  no
Comments:  The finale in the WondLa series and it is a great finish.  It starts a short while after the ending of the second book and tells the tale of how Eva, our heroine, stops the war and brings peace to Orbona.  There is never a dull point and every event feels significant and interesting.  It touches onto the themes of friendship and family.  Since Eva lacks any sort of superhuman power or whatnot, you are kept in anticipation in how she manages to stop Loroc (the antagonist).  While the resolution isn’t as satisfying or easy to understand as you would have hoped, it did its job and I liked how the book ended in a series of epilogues in which we see what laid beyond the foreseeable future.  The illustrations are nicely drawn and very beautiful.  It helps you visualise some of the more unusual animals and are every bit as enjoyable as the story itself.  The world the author has created is immersive and huge with a perfect combination of familiar and exotic that gets you addicted.  While the plot isn’t as clever and fun as the original, it is nevertheless hard to put down and intricate.
