Book Review: Breakaway

Review:  #473
Title:  Breakaway
Series:  Unstoppable - 2nd book
Author:  Jeff Hirsch
Read Before: no
Comments:  It is much apparent here that The 39 Clues series is becoming stale and predictable.  The enjoyment of the plot is hindered by the author dwelling on the same kind of problems that we have seen before.  Amy and Dan will fly around the country, tracking down ingredients in yet another massive fetch quest, attacked by their enemies.  It’s not enough that it was done twice already but now, the readers also have to put up with Amy’s over protective attitude and her reflections for the whole book.  It’s tedious and not very entertaining since we know that she will need the others’ help, that they will turn up in the nick of time and everything will be okay.  Plus, Amy and Jake’s relationship take tread on an old and tired road which lacks any sort of chemistry for you to care.  The only redeeming feature is the fact that it rouses interest in a lot of real world items like silphium which may not be well known to the reader.
