Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl

It's hard to deny that Johnny Depp fits his character as Captain Jack Sparrow perfectly in this movie and that he is quite likable.  Instead of a realistic take on pirates, The Curse of the Black Pearl has a supernatural element involving the undead, treasure and a curse.  The first hour of the movie was good, with strong pacing but after that point, the film begins to feel bloated and starts to lose your interest.  The story can be hard to understand at first as you try and contemplate how all these characters intertwine with each other.  Character motives are hard to decipher, with backstabbing and betrayal happening multiple times throughout the movie.  That's probably the worse thing, being that characters are loyal to no one but themselves.  The set pieces were exciting and fun to watch, although the climax once again felt too long and bloated.
