Book Review: Missions of Love Vol. 1

Review:  #501
Title:  Missions of Love Vol. 1
Series:  Missions of Love - 1st volume
Author:  Ema Toyama
Read Before:  no
Comments:  Missions of Love is about Yukina, who is shunned by pretty much everyone at school due to her cold demeanor.  She writes novels (that are released on phones) and she attempts to venture into love territory except that she does not know what love is.  She ends up blackmailing the most popular boy in school, who is also a jerk in secret while being very nice towards everyone else.  It sounds like a good premise but the execution is lacking chemistry.  Yukina and her target, Shigure, try to one up each other but it never feels very clever or funny.  Yukina gives heavy demands that seem to advance the story so fast that it feels like there won’t be much left to unveil in later volumes.  Yukina goes through the motions of holding hands, hugging and kissing in the first three chapters alone.  Missions of Love does not pack in enough humor or credibility to its scenarios to make it as enjoyable as it could be.
