Book Review: Charlie Bone and the Blue Boa

Review:  #510
Title:  Charlie Bone and the Blue Boa
Series:  Charlie Bone - 3rd book
Author:  Jenny Nimmo
Read Before:  yes
Comments:  Charlie Bone and the Blue Boa provide a perfect balance between the normal side of Charlie’s life and the magical side.  There’s not too much fantasy for it to become unbelievable but just enough for a magical touch.  The plot isn’t too tight and at times, it can stray too far but it captured your attention.  In essence, Charlie must save an invisible boy and of course, a lot of things happen along the way.  What was surprising was how evil Charlie’s grandma and aunts could be, while being a hypocrite and calling Charlie and his friends the evil ones.  There were times where it felt like it was building up to something, like Lysander and his sculptor, but which eventuated to effectively nothing, feeling like it was a waste of time.  Overall, a solid story with some good writing.
