Toy Review: Transformers BotCon 2015 Waruders Paralyzer with Buzzer

Review:  #258
Name:  Paralyzer with Buzzer
Brand:  Transformers
Allegiance:  Decepticon
Line:  BotCon 2015 - Souvenir Set
Year of Release:  2015
Size Class:  Deluxe with Targetmaster
Variations:  repaint of Generations IDW Waspinator (along with rest of Waruders); Buzzer is a repaint of the Generations Waspinator that came with Generations Legends Starscream

BIO CARD:

Paralyzer comes with a bio card with the same piece of text as the rest of the Waruders.  A bit lazy in that they couldn't have differentiate the bio cards a bit more other than just changing the color of the artwork.  Not to mention that the artwork is quite ugly and beastly too.

WASP MODE:

Paralyzer is a white, purple and black wasp, the color scheme inspired by Bug Bite, and this truly makes Paralyzer look evil.

The transparent purple wings and stinger cements the fact that Paralyzer would not hesitate to tear another bot apart.

This is a good wasp mode from certain angles because looking from the side, you will realize that the legs are attached to the body at different heights, and that his robot hands are visible and there is a chunk of kibble underneath the head.

A quick size comparison with Trailcutter, you can tell that Paralyzer is somewhat small.

And now a comparison with the original color scheme.

Paralyzer comes with Buzzer.  He also has a flapping wing gimmick in that when you pull back on the lever on his back, the wings lifts forward.

He looks great with the other three Waruders in the set.

A great mode with a color scheme that works well.

BUZZER:

Let's get distracted a bit first with Buzzer, who is a yellow repaint.  It is a mustardy yellow and it isn't that great.

Converting him into robot mode is as simple as standing him up and flipping down the insect head.  The small size and the random insect legs poking all over the place makes him feel a bit fragile.

Articulation is limited to the swinging of his arms and legs, forget about any poses you want to set him in.

He has a third weapon mode but it is a mess with the obvious insect legs and unstable nature of the mode.

TRANSFORMATION:

Paralyzer's transformation is simple and easy.  The best parts are how the legs unfold from the wasp mode as the robot arms are disappointing (granted, you would have expected that already since they are so obvious in wasp mode).

ROBOT MODE:

Paralyzer's robot mode works well with the colors it has as well,  The abundance of white highlighted by the lilac and black keeps up the evil theme.

He has a lot of kibble though such as the wings on his back, abdomen and insect legs.

The headsculpt is one of the highlights, and they even bothered to paint his mouth/teeth black.  It has fantastic lightpiping too.

A size comparison with Crosscut and you can see that Paralyzer is quite slim.

Now a comparison with Waspinator.

Poseability is decent except that his knees can only bend 45 degrees for whatever reason.

Paralyzer isn't immune from the massive issue of the set, the ankles are extremely weak to the point that they just flop around.  This makes even standing a challenge, let along dynamic poses.

He comes with a stinger weapon with the transparent purple stinger as the tip, it looks nice.

Obviously, he can hold the weapon in either hand and has wrist swivels to add in your efforts to achieve the perfect pose.

A quick shot with Buzzer, to this day, I do not understand why they couldn't just have painted the Targetmasters in the same color scheme as Buzzer's yellow clashes too much with Paralyzer's white.

Paralyzer can hold Buzzer in his weapon mode for some dual wielding shots.

A shot of the Waruders 4-pack set, and they look good.  However, this set has one of the lamest names ever in the history of Transformers.

A nice robot mode which uses the white and black very well.

OVERALL:

Paralyzer is a good toy with a good color scheme.  However, his high price, coupled with the fact that you have to buy the set for him makes Paralyzer a hard sell unless you like the rest of the figures.  If you have the inclination and means, then Paralyzer with Buzzer is worth getting, just be wary of the loose ankle joints.
