Noah (2014)

Noah is inspired by the biblical story of Noah's Ark, fantasized and drawn out longer to be made into a featured length film.  It starts off quite well, and there are some epic scenes within the film, however it is dragged down by an overburdened plot and eventually, an unlikable main character.  Noah is tasked to build an ark to house two of each of the world's animals, in order to survive the pending disaster that is set to drown all mankind as punishment.  With the introduction of the antagonist, Cain, we end up seeing how merciless Noah can be, opting to not help out some innocents.  Noah even goes so far as to intending to slay his own family.  His stubbornness in the second half of the film makes him very unlikable.  This is not helped when you felt like the film should have ended 45 mins ago with the great flood arriving.  Events are dramatized and it stretches belief through its depiction of fallen angels, it feels as if there was too much creative changes for it to be faithful.  Noah presents a lot of lessons and beliefs, which can be hard to take in all at once.  Overall, the film has its merits but can be too overwhelming in its ambition.
