The Black Hole
The Black Hole is a Walt Disney film released in 1979 that centers upon a space cruiser on the fringes of a black hole. A crew from another ship chances upon the cruiser and they learn that it was a lost vehicle from 20 years ago, whereby the mission was aborted and the crew ordered to return... but they never did. The Black Hole tries to touch upon the more interesting features of the space phenomenon but never actually dives into it and what it does depict contradicts even the most common knowledge of space and black holes. It loses it's intrigue and momentum before the halfway mark it reached and frankly, the first 30 minutes can be confusing. The ending is hard to decipher too and you never feel attached to any of the characters. The special effects were decent especially considering its year of release. An overbloated film that doesn't use its setting to the full potential.
