Book Review: Dragon Rider

Review:  #553
Title:  Dragon Rider
Series:  N/A
Author:  Cornelia Funke
Read Before:  yes
Comments:  Dragon Rider has a fantastically sweet and classic story, exactly like a fairy tale.  It spins a tale that has an epic feel to it, with just the right hint of suspense, drama and action without being violent.  The story is about a dragon searching for a resting place now that humans have started invaded his current home.  A resting known as the Rim of Heaven, which he is not even sure it exists.  A boy called Ben accompanies him and the adventures they have is fun and engrossing.  Adding to the tension is the dragons' arch nemesis called Nettlebrand.  He is a great antagonist and contrasts against the protagonist quite well.  The plot travels along smoothly, and while it goes at a soothing place, is never grinds to a halt.  There are some classic elements in the story like asking a question to a djinn, riding a sea serpent and meeting talking animals.  All in all, an enjoyable novel for all ages.
