Book Review: Charlie Bone and the Castle of Mirrors

Review:  #560
Title:  Charlie Bone and the Castle of Mirrors
Series:  Charlie Bone - 4th book
Author:  Jenny Nimmo
Read Before:  no
Comments:  Castle of Mirrors has a busy plot; there are a lot of key moments here which will affect the rest of the series.  It is a bit of a shame that the villains for the first half of the book were not explored, as they ability with the binding oaths had a lot of potential but ultimately was quickly defeated and forgotten.  It really felt like there was two halves of the book, where the first half focused upon Billy Raven and his situation, and the second half focusing on the Castle of Mirrors and how it linked to Charlie’s dad, what’s happening during school and one of his friend’s endowment.  However, the author has managed to tie these various threads together really well into a coherent story.  Characters remain likeable and it’s interesting to see how the characters use their unique (and sometimes seemingly useless) endowments to overcome evil.
