Book Review: Star Wolf

Review:  #565
Title:  Star Wolf
Series:  Wolves of the Beyond - 6th and final book
Author:  Kathryn Lasky
Read Before:  no
Comments:  Star Wolf is a good book to end the series.  It takes place completely on the ice bridge.  Faolan must lead and guide a small pack consisting of wolves, owls, eagles and bears on an ice bridge out from the destroyed Beyond and into a new world.  The big threat being Heep, who has a thirst for revenge and desire to kill Faolan as well as Heep's mate and son.  The chase ends up becoming fairly tense and thrilling, as you can see how desperate Faolan's pack is to keep ahead of Heep, and the constant worry of what would happen if they reach the land but the outclanner wolves arrive too.  In addition, time is against their side as the ice bridge melts.  The plot becomes a little bit confusing when new animals are introduced and one of the pups learn their language.  That felt like it wasn't explained very well.  Faolan's previous lives are finally tied together and there is a good resolution in that aspect.  The ending was brief and felt like it could have been fleshed out more.
