Book Review: Shadows of the Master

Review:  #580
Title:  Shadows of the Master
Series:  Star of Deltora
Author:  Emily Rodda
Read Before:  no
Comments:  Set in Deltora, Shadows of the Master begins a new tale, following Britta, whose father was a disgrace to his family.  Trying to get rid of the stigma, Britta participates In a contest to become the apprentice to a famous trader.  Obviously, Britta will become one of the finalists but it is how she gets there that makes it interesting.  True to the author's style, Shadows of the Master is filled with a rich interesting lore, which holds the story together amazingly well.  Even in this first book, it will leave readers hooked and has set up the atmosphere of the world nicely for the future, anticipating the developments that will surely come in spades in future books.  It is slightly confusing with some of the supernatural events that occurred but otherwise, this is a great start to the series.
