Book Review: Attack on Titan Vol. 3

Review:  #589
Title:  Attack on Titan Vol. 3
Series:  Attack on Titan - 3rd volume
Author:  Hajime Isayama
Read Before:  no
Comments:  This third volume of Attack on Titan follows up immediately on the shocking cliffhanger in which Eren is eaten by a titan.  Of course, things aren’t as they seem and Eren will escape, but not without doing the unbelievable.  As a result of this, his comrades are afraid of him and this leads to one of the iconic scenes from the series in which he blocks the cannon fire.  The second half of the volume feels a little like padding as Eren loses control of his powers, and flashbacks happen as he begins the journey to properly use his powers.  Overall, this is not a bad volume but there is a lot of dialogue which at the end of the day, doesn’t feel like it advanced the plot as much as it would have liked.
