Book Review: Sword Art Online: Girls' Ops Vol. 2

Review:  #609
Title:  Sword Art Online:  Girls' Ops Vol. 2
Series:  Sword Art Online:  Girls' Ops - 2nd volume
Author:  Neko Nekobyou / Reki Kawahara
Read Before:  no
Comments:  The second volume of Girls’ Ops is nice in that all the chapters cover a single story arc.  Carrying on from the ruined clothes of the previous volume, the party of four girls (Liz, Leafa, Silica and Lux) enters into a swimsuit competition in order to get enough money to fix their clothes.  This gives the excuse needed for some massive fan service.  The quantity of fan service is too much and detracts from the already shallow plot, which makes it quite disappointing.  While the artwork is nice, there’s just nothing much here to capture your attention, with mange clichés such as clumsy falls, tentacles wrapping around the characters and a happy ending.  The fight scenes are just another excuse to show a character in a compromised position.  This second volume is disappointing in its content and direction.
