The Imitation Game
The Imitation Game takes place during World War II, and showcases how Alan Turing broke the enigma code used by the Germans, and helped in shortening the war and saving millions of lives. It begins with Alan being recruiting to crack the enigma code, and joining the team of cryptologists. Initially cold towards his colleagues, he builds up a relationship with them and they become a great team working together to create a machine that could crack the code. The film doesn't end when the code has been cracked, rather, it then dives into Alan's decisions, made with great difficulty, on how to respond as to not arouse the Germans' suspicious that their code has been compromised. It has a sad ending, one that doesn't feel deserving of a man that has completed such great achievements. Overall, The Imitation Game is a fantastic film that carries the perfect blend of drama and thriller.
