Book Review: Cage of Eden Volume 18

Review:  #652
Title:  Cage of Eden Volume 18
Series:  Cage of Eden - 18th volume
Author:  Yoshinobu Yamada
Read Before:  yes
Comments:  The volume carries on the story of the awakened mutant monster, which unfortunately is one of the more unrealistic subplots of the series.  The author highly exaggerates everyone’s abilities, especially with the appearance of another monster.  With no characters really in danger, and being a while since someone has died, the threat of the island seems very low compared to the beginning.  The large group is able to traverse days of distance with ease which feels like the author doesn’t care as much anymore.  The focus upon the group targeting the other group, in order to get the doctor to perform surgery on their teacher feels superficial.  The fact that the doctor has so much control and induced so much fear, just because he is a doctor can be a bit hard to swallow.  Overall, the plot still remains engaging however.
