Toy Review: Transformers Generations Titans Return Brawn (Legends)

Review:  #394
Name:  Brawn
Brand:  Transformers
Allegiance:  Autobot
Line:  Generations - Titans Return
Year of Release:  2017
Size Class:  Legends (Wave 4)
Mold Status:  new

VEHICLE MODE:

Brawn transforms into a green jeep with some yellow highlights, very reminiscent of his G1 self.

While generally a good vehicle mode, the back is lacking thanks to the incomplete look (due to transformation of the legs).

In terms of size, he's fairly small but standard for this size class.  Above is a comparison against Combiner Wars Shockwave.

As part of the Titans Return line, Brawn comes with a card showcasing the artwork.

The roof opens up to reveal space large enough for a Titan Master to ride in.

A good vehicle mode, would have been flawless if not for the hollow rear.

TRANSFORMATION:

Brawn's transformation does not do anything new and is actually fairly generic.  He transforms pretty much what you'd expect with he back folding out to be his legs and the sides come out to form his arms.  It's quite boring.

ROBOT MODE:

Robot mode is spot on for the character and looks fantastic.

He doesn't have any kibble on him which is great.

The headsculpt is also nice.  The head is on a swivel but due to the piece behind his back and the rounded head, you need to grip it securely before you can turn it.

Brawn is stocky but manages to achieve the same height as other Legends figures.

Poseability is solid with thigh swivels, knee hinge, and balljointed shoulders and elbows.

He has large heelspurs .  The only slightly negative are the relatively short legs but is part of the character.

Brawn's main weapon is a shield formed from the rear of the vehicle.

The shield can peg onto the outside of either of his forearms.

A strong robot mode, this is the perfect update to the character.

OVERALL:

As a Transformer, Brawn doesn't do anything special in the engineering department.  However, he represents a strong update to the character that's true to his G1 incarnation.  Brawn is recommended if you like the character or want an update to him.
