Toy Review: Transformers Generations Power of the Primes Slash

Review:  #436
Name:  Slash
Brand:  Transformers
Allegiance:  Autobot
Line:  Generations - Power of the Primes
Year of Release:  2017
Size Class:  Legends (Wave 1)
Mold Status:  new

ALTERNATE MODE:

Slash transforms into a robotic dinosaur.  She is a new member of the Dinobots (i.e. not inspired by G1) but based upon the one from Age of Extinction done in the aesthetics of the rest of the Dinobots in the line.

Her dinosaur mode is pretty good although the torso is obviously the robot legs and you can see the exposed robot hands behind her feet.

As with all the other figures in the line, Slash comes with a character card.

Size-wise, she is small and feels small, even for a Legends class.  Thanks to her choice of disguise, when compared to a vehicle Transformer, she just feels flimsy and tiny in your hands.

The jaws can open and her two arms are on swivels.  The legs can also move but she is too front-heavy, unless you tilt your head up (which cannot look down), she cannot stand.  This is a pretty significant flaw since she always stares at the sky now.

Her torso is hollow as once you flip open a panel, it allows a Titan Master to sit and ride her back.

This is a pretty good dinosaur that doesn't seem out of place compared to the rest of the Dinobots, just a shame about being too front-heavy.

TRANSFORMATION:

Slash has a simple transformation and actually is fairly reminiscent of Beast Wars Dinobot.  The dinosaur torso become the robot legs, the dinosaur legs become the robot arms and everything else cleverly fills up the hollow torso.

ROBOT MODE:

Robot mode looks great with the slim look.

Perhaps the most impressive thing about this figure is how the dinosaur head folds and fills up the gap of the torso that was left for the Titan Master gimmick.  It allows the robot mode to feel a lot more solid and tucks the kibble away.

The headsculpt has a classic G1 feel to it but on the whole, it doesn't scream female.

Against Slash is small against even other figures in the same size-class, which is a shame as this size class already presented the worst value for money.

Articulation is fantastic as she even has elbow and thigh swivels.  Unfortunately, the dinosaur hands awkwardly stick out the sides of her back and can get in the way.

She lacks a weapon which is a glaring omission.  She has 5mm fists though so if you have any spare weapons she can comfortably hold them.

A decent robot mode and works really well.

OVERALL:

Slash is a solid little figure.  The biggest negatives are the small size and the balance of dinosaur mode.  The robot mode looks great and is extremely poseable, lending to heaps of play value.  As the additional member of the Power of the Primes Dinobots, she is worthy but just a shame that she doesn't interact with the combined mode like being in a weapon mode or a chestplate.
