Book Review: Black Gold
Review: #808
Title: Black Gold
Series: Alpha Force - 9th book
Author: Chris Ryan
Comments: Alpha Force is having a holiday at a beautiful coral reef when an oil tanker crashes and starts leaking oil. As expected, this is a disaster for the environment and the first half of the novel shows the catastrophic effect is has. It is quite shocking at the devastation the oil causes to the ecology. Naturally, the second half deals with a conspiracy that the crash of the oil tanker wasn’t an accident. Alpha Forces finally gets to use their numerous skills to track down the mastermind and it takes on a completely different tone. It’s not a bad shift since the scenes get tenser and faster paced. The best thing about this series is how it gives you knowledge of real safety and survival tips, with the huge focus on diving and the dangers of it, it keeps your interest. While not everyone gets their just desserts, it was a satisfying ending and doesn’t go too far in terms of being unrealistic.
