Toy Review: Transformers Generations Titans Return Quake & Chasm (Deluxe)
Review: #479
Name: Quake
Brand: Transformers
Allegiance: Decepticon
Line: Generations - Titans Return
Year of Release: 2017
Size Class: Deluxe (Wave 4)
Mold Status: repaint of Generations Titans Return Hardhead
CHASM:
Chasm is the Titan Master partner of Quake and he is completely unpainted here.
The face is visible from behind and he has the typical Titan Master articulation of balljointed shoulders and neck.
ALTERNATE MODE:
Quake transforms into a fairly flat tank but still looks powerful nonetheless.
While the treads are molded, there are small plastic wheels underneath to allow him to roll on smooth surfaces.
The additional grey gun can attach on top of the cannon in this mode and doesn't look too out of place there.
Quake is a repaint of Hardhead but in a much darker color scheme. The plastic is glossy and looks really nice in hand.
His size is average for a Deluxe, above is a comparison against Studio Series Ratchet.
He comes with a collector art featuring a very nice piece of artwork.
The cannon can tilt up but cannot rotate since the cockpit gets in the way.
As part of the Titans Return line, Quake has a heap of interactivity with Titan Masters. The first of which is that the cockpit opens for Chasm to sit in.
The back of the cannon opens up for Chasm to man the secondary gun.
There are also various pegs scattered on the figure that correspond to the holes underneath the feet of the Titan Masters. This mold has one of the best inclusions of Titan Masters interactivity in the whole line.
A fantastic alternate mode with heaps of play value. The best thing? These gimmicks do not compromise the figure at all.
TRANSFORMATION:
Quake has a neat transformation that's easy but fun at the same time. The back extends to form the legs, the front treads the arms and the body of the tank folds in half to form the torso. It is intuitive and work well. As Quake is a straight redeco of Hardhead, there are no changes to the transformation scheme.
ROBOT MODE:
Quake's robot mode looks great. Considering everything, the color scheme comes together really well.
There is some kibble on the back, being the gigantic cannon and the cockpit. It can't be avoided and it isn't that much in the way.
The headsculpt is the only remolding done between Quake and Hardhead. It looks good and helps sell the fact that this is a different character (lets be honest, the mold was designed for Hardhead first and foremost).
Again, he is average height for a Deluxe.
Poseability is strong but due to transformation, Quake lacks a waist joint.
The cannon can tilt forward to form a shoulder cannon and looks good like this.
His main weapon, apart from the shoulder cannon, is a grey gun.
The gun can be held in either hand. One of the only negatives here is the fact that the treads are unpainted, so the grey plastic used blends in with the rest of the legs and doesn't look as good.
The shoulder cannon can actually detached and held in his hand for an absolutely gigantic gun.
The mold is no doubt great but the color scheme works too.
OVERALL:
Quake is a good figure. The only difference between him and Hardhead is the color scheme and a different face, you won't be making a mistake getting either. As a redeco, Quake manages to gain his own identity and look like a different figure thanks to the darker color scheme. If you can find Quake cheap or if you don't have Hardhead already, then this is a worthy figure to purchase.
