Book Review: KonoSuba: God’s Blessing on This Wonderful World 3 – You’re Being Summoned, Darkness
Review: #820
Title: KonoSuba: God’s Blessing on This Wonderful World 3 – You’re Being Summoned, Darkness
Series: KonoSuba: God’s Blessing on This Wonderful World - 3rd volume
Author: Natsume Akatsuki
Comments: Following directly after the previous volume, Kazuma is arrested and put on trial for allegedly sending the bomb to a lord’s mansion, which accounts to treason. Before that happens, he is locked up and a few hilarious things happen when Aqua, Megumin and Darkness hatches various plans to free him. After the trial, we learn a lot more about the pasts of Megumin and Darkness, both of which are fairly surprising. These lend to funny yet lighthearted adventures, and are a great slice-of-life portion of the novel. While the structure of the plot is very similar to previous volumes, right down to an encounter with a boss at the end, each individual quirk of the characters are explored and we actually get to see their strengths. Who knew that Darkness’s masochistic tendencies could come in useful against a boss? The scenes and subplots flow a lot better and more naturally such that it doesn’t feel disjointed or aimless anymore. While we always see what Kazuma’s thinking, it’s nice to see a small section where we can hear the other characters’ thoughts, and makes it even funnier when you realize that in their eyes, they are not the troublemakers. A great volume overall with plenty of originality.
