Book Review: Re:Zero – Starting Life in Another World Vol. 3
Review: #849
Title: Re:Zero – Starting Life in Another World Vol. 3
Series: Re:Zero – Starting Life in Another World - 3rd volume
Author: Tappei Nagatsuki
Comments: Volume 3 finishes the story arc involving Subaru’s time at the mansion. After the many painful and despairing deaths in the previous volume, it seems that this time might be the one that gets Subaru over the line. Truth be told, the story events gets a bit messy as one thing goes to another without much of a break. What does help are the interludes that finally reveals some of the other characters’ thoughts, as well as they backstory that explains their personality. Those go a long way in justifying their behavior and their attitudes towards Subaru. As Subaru struggles to find the one who placed the curse on him, it spirals out of control into a much better threat. It was always said that Subaru doesn’t have much potential but what makes him an interesting character is how he struggles to accomplish something even when he knows he is practically useless. This is truly a volume that focuses on Rem and Subaru and does a lot in making them likable.
