Book Review: 9 From the Nine Worlds
Review: #885
Title: 9 From the Nine Worlds
Series: Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard – companion book
Author: Rick Riordan
Comments: As a companion book to the Magnus Chase series, it contains nine short stories, each set in one of the different worlds from Norse mythology. Each story is also narrated by a different side character and for the most part, they are decent. However, the length of each story is really short which usually means that there’s not much time for the plot to build and then get resolved. Usually, it builds and then immediately ends which is a bit of a disappointment. There is still an over abundance of pop culture references (which means it will aged badly in a few years) and it still feels the author is trying too hard to stay relevant. Nothing is more so than having Thor as a recurring gag making an appearance in each story. While it is a nice touch to connect each story with something, it felt clumsily done.
