Book Review: Sword Art Online: Progressive Vol. 6
Review: #883
Title: Sword Art Online: Progressive Vol. 6
Series: Sword Art Online: Progressive – 6th volume
Author: Reki Kawahara
Comments: Things heat up as Kirito and Asuna go their own way from the other frontliners to advance the quest with the Dark Elf Kizmel. The pacing is actually quick and there’s a lot of tension between the various factions now. As Kirito ponders about the complexities of the AI of the NPCs, Asuna just goes along with it and the volume is better because of it. As it doesn’t spend half the volume on one battle scene, the plot doesn’t stagnate. When coupled with the sprinkling of humor here and there, and the pages fly by. It tries to inject some politics but feels contrived as a result and is one of the least favorable subplots since the characters are so shortsighted and annoying. It did drag out the climax though, from the various viewpoints until it ends on a cliffhanger where the battles are just about to begin.
