Book Review: The Calculus Affair

Review:  #891
Title:  The Calculus Affair
Series:  The Adventures of Tintin – 18th book
Author:  Herge
Comments:  As per usual, the story starts off with an intriguing premise, glass is randomly shattering and Tintin cannot find the reason why.  Thus commences an epic chase in which Calculus is deeply involved.  It leads to some interesting revelations towards the end and you could feel all the pieces falling into place, which was satisfying.  While there are the usual padding of Tintin and Captain Haddock being led in circles, there were some truly exciting scenes.  Unfortunately, a few new side characters are introduced, mainly for comedic reasons.  The downside is that these characters end up becoming annoying most of the time rather than funny.  It doesn’t ruin the story but dampen it a small bit.
