Book Review: Game No Life Vol. 7
Review: #912
Title: No Game No Life Vol. 7
Series: No Game No Life – 7th volume
Author: Yuu Kamiya
Comments: Like the rest of the series, the English translation leaves plenty to be desired since there are confusing passages and sentence structures that make it hard to understand what it is trying to convey. Looking past that, this is supposed to be a grand volume as Sora and Shiro, along with the rest of the characters that have joined their team, have challenged the Old Deus to a game. It is surprising that they jump right ahead to the most powerful race. The whole volume deals with the happenings of the game… which is similar to the game of life. There are gambits within gambits and this is where things get confusing. Things don’t make sense, and while there are certain sections where the cleverness shines through, overall it doesn’t quite work as well as one would hope. It’s difficult to connect the dots at times and characters you thought were on good terms suddenly turn out that they weren’t. A somewhat disappointing and hard to understand story lets the volume down.
