Inspector Gadget 2 (2003)
Inspector Gadget 2 is a sequel to the first film but direct-to-video and this shows. The visual effects makes not effort to try and look realistic. Instead, the whole film gives up on making it semi-plausible and goes full out on wackiness. Unfortunately, this doesn't work as you cannot take anything seriously. Performances are over the top, effects look like they came out of a cartoon with no thought given on whether it would actually meld well with live-action, and the plot is a retread of the original. All the actors have changed and Inspector Gadget is currently experiencing gadgets. A new version from the Gadget Program is released and as you'd expect with older models, Inspector Gadget is starting to doubt himself. He is more oblivious than ever before and this makes him look like a fool. To cap it all off, the love interest angle starts from zero. It really does feel like a zero effort sequel with too much cheese (and not in a good way) which is unfortunate since the character has so much potential.
