Men in Black: International (2019)
Men in Black: International is the fourth film in the Men in Black film franchise and is a reboot of it. It takes place in the same world though and the events did happen, so we do not have to sit through the same set up of explaining who the Men in Black is and what they do. As it introduces two brand new leads, Agent H and Agent M, we still get origin stories for the both of them. Men in Black was known for its humor and wackiness, as well as wowing you with its gadgets. Unfortunately, International falls a bit flat in both these areas. The humor feels tired, as if they are a few years out of date. The pair doesn't have quite the same charm as J and K. The gadgets feels like your run of the mill advanced technology affair and the heavy reliance on special effects, which isn't particularly amazing, doesn't do it any favors. The story is also very predictable. That thing Agent M did at the beginning of the film? You know it'll turn up later. That traitor that they were talking about? You know it's related to a certain event. While all these doesn't make International a bad film, it just feels very average.
