The Boss Baby (2017)
The Boss Baby is an animated film. Based on the title alone, you know it is about a baby, who is clever enough to be the boss of the family. Once you watch the film, the reason that this is possible is a little bit weaker. Tim is happily the only child of the family, but it is under threat when a new member comes. The beginning of the film is actually really good in how it depicts the imagination of a young boy like Tim, and the strain of a second family member who starts taking up all the attention of the parents. Unfortunately, the plot then starts to weaken as it introduces a massive conspiracy around the Boss Baby, how he is clever, how he is pretty much a spy, and why he has infiltrated the family. As expected, Tim wants to uncover their secret and go back to his previous life and the battles begin. The film swings between clever gags and lazy ones, so it never quite maintains its quality. The climax is predictable and cliched as animated films go but it doesn't diminish the lesson learned by the characters. Overall, The Boss Baby is slightly above average but doesn't hold a candle to some of the more classic, better, animated films.
