Ghostbusters (2016)

Ghostbusters is a reboot of the iconic film franchises and replaces the four leads with a female cast, which was controversial at the time.  Ignoring that, unfortunately, the film is bad.  None of the four leads have a charismatic personality, and their supposedly witty playoffs against each other falls flat.  The film has to spend time on showing off how the group got together, and how they ended up calling themselves the Ghostbusters.  It feels like a retread and was done in the most bland way possible.  For such a high budget blockbuster, the effects were laughably bad.  There are times where you think that the film must be joking but no, they are serious.  Characters are terrible and one dimensional.  They seem to latch on to one specific personality quirk, which wasn't that funny to begin with, and kept using it over and over again which is tiring.  The inclusion of the sole male supporting character, depicted as a stupid airhead, was pointless.  He did nothing and added nothing to the plot.  There are various scenes that rely on nostalgia but they seem like desperate attempts and tarnishes the original.  Ghostbusters is a bad movie that has no redeeming features.
