Book Review: No Game No Life Vol. 3

Review:  #605
Title:  No Game No Life Vol. 3
Series:  No Game No Life - 3rd volume
Author:  Yuu Kamiya
Read Before:  no
Comments:  Volume 3 has Sora and Shiro take on the Werebeasts at their own game, staking everything they have, and the lives of their subjects, into it.  The plot is convoluted and complex, taking a while for it to sink in.  The full extent of the plan is only revealed at the very end and its scope is so big, with so many variables, that it is difficult to imagine that it was a preplanned from the start.  There were two primary complex games here, the first one between Sora and Chlammy, in order to get them over to his side, and then the actual game against the Werebeasts.  Both were interesting and once you understand the full extent of the outcome, it’s quite impressive and clever.  A lot of the scenes have the author droning on and that is distracting, plus there are Sora’s exaggerated sexual motivations and comments, which can be overbearing.  Character development is limited but the fact that each character had their own starring role in the grand plan made it enjoyable to read.  The ending was satisfying and promises bigger and bolder plans in future volumes.
