Labyrinth (1986)

Labyrinth is a fantasy adventure film starring David Bowie as the Goblin King Jareth who steals Sarah's baby brother.  Sarah must then travel through the labyrinth (in another world) to the castle to save her baby brother within 13 hours or he will be transformed into a goblin forever.  Labyrinth starts off strong and sucks your attention, especially since you know that the kidnapping is going to happen and that something magical is at play.  Once Sarah enters the labyrinth, the pace manages to barely keep up since there were various scenes where it did not feel as if it added to the story but it manages to all wrap together into a cohesive package.  Labyrinth gets weird in certain places, with some odd story direction but it is made up in its visual department.  The usage of puppets and animatronics are fantastic and integrated into the film really well, they move naturally and interactions with the real-life actors isn't compromised at all.  Labyrinth also has some musical pieces but some of the lyrics can be hard to decipher.  Overall, Labyrinth feels like a classic adventure fantasy film which while there are some flaws, brings back some of the magic of childhood.
