Book Review: The Land of Dragons: Legends of ancient Deltora, including the newly discovered tales of Dorne

Review:  #162
Title:  The Land of Dragons:  Legends of ancient Deltora, including the newly discovered tales of Dorne
Series:  Deltora Quest - companion book
Author:  Emily Rodda
Read Before:  no
My Comments:  At first I thought it was going to be a random collection of short stories that is based around Deltora Quest, and it seemed like that from the first few stories.  It only starts taking shape by around the fifth story or chapter, where you realise that it’s basically telling the story of the rise of the Shadow Lord, where he came from, who he really was etc, and it makes for an interesting read.  Particularly since the Shadow Lord was such a mysterious character and little was known about him.  This short book is basically a prequel to Tales of Deltora (but half this book is stories already in Tales of Deltora) as it ends pretty much where Tales of Deltora start with Adin going around collecting the famous gems.  Considering this is a ‘free’ book (part of a promotion) it is of a decent quality.
