Ice Age 2: The Meltdown
As far as sequels go, The Meltdown could have been a lot worse. The story is nowhere near as touching or funny as the original. After the last film's events, Manny, Sid and Diego has settled down in a valley but with the climate getting warmer, it turns out that all the ice has started to melt. Manny also faces an extinction crisis, believing himself to be the only mammoth left alive until he finds Ellie, a female mammoth. The plot revolves around Manny trying to chase the affections of Ellie and the whole party trying to get out of the valley before it floods. It ends up being more boring and bland than you would expect, although some great visual gags and funny dialogue elevates the boredom somewhat. The animation is much better and more detailed and the voice acting is solid. However, Ice Age 2: The Meltdown just fails to capture your full attention with repetitive and predictable plot developments.
