Toy Review: Blokhedz Ant-Man
Review: #295
Name: Ant-Man
Brand: Blokhedz
Year of Release: 2015
Variations: the same mold/shape was used for the other 15 characters, just with different paint applications
FIGURE:
During late 2015 (around November-ish), Z petrol stations in New Zealand had a promotion whereby for every NZ$40 you spent, you get a free Marvel Blokhedz. There are sixteen to collect and they were cute little things.
These guys were blindpacked and it just so happens that Ant-Man was in one of them. If you're only exposure to the character was the movie, then he's not very recognizable since it's more of the classic comic look instead.
This is a really cool and cute little thing. Naturally, he doesn't have any sculpted detailing and relies heavily on paint applications to make it work. It's also pretty much a brick and for display purposes only.
The figure is a super-deformed version of the character with a huge squared head (hence the name) and stubby arms/legs.
Something that pictures don't show very well is how small these guys are. Naturally, they are free so you can't expect them to be that big. Above is a Transformers Legion figure to show that Ant-Man's rough size.
You can see the appeal of these figures and Ant-Man looks great, especially if you have a few other of these.
OVERALL:
Having these small little figures is a great promotion and worth the extra premium/mark-up that Z petrol stations seem to have (effectively paying $2-$3 for these figures depending on the size of your tank). Ant-Man is a cool little figure and if you have the means to get him, then get him.
