The Whole Nine Yards (2000)
The Whole Nine Yards is a crime comedy starring Bruce Willis as Jimmy, an ex-hitman and Matthew Perry as Oz. Jimmy moves in next door to Oz, and Oz ends up getting involved in which Jimmy's previous gang boss wants to kill him, and vice versa. To add further fuel to the fire, Oz's wife wants to kill Oz for death insurance money. All this combines into a comedy that works fairly well. The humor is subtle and the plot never gets too ridiculous. The pacing manages to keep things interesting and you are genuinely interested to see how the plot would pan out, since either everyone is going to die, or a few of the main characters are, the resolution of this problem is what keeps the viewers engaged. There were a few unusual out of place scenes, especially the oddly positive Jill, who is Oz's assistant, and how she fits into the story. Overall, The Whole Nine Yards is an enjoyable film that while it is not the most hilarious film ever, it has enough humor in it to make it worthwhile.
