Book Review: Deep Trouble

Review:  #644
Title:  Deep Trouble
Series:  Goosebumps
Author:  R.L. Stine
Read Before:  no
Comments:  Deep Trouble isn’t that scary at all.  While it tries to have its moments, it ends up falling flat.  From the title and cover, you would expect a Jaws type of thriller but there’s barely any tense moments where the protagonists are truly in danger.  It follows Billy and Sheena staying with their uncle who is investigating the ocean’s animals.  It takes a turn for the fantastical when they decide to search for a mermaid instead.  Deep Trouble’s biggest strength and also its biggest flaw is the short length, which allows it to have a faster pace however it doesn’t have enough time to flesh out its plot properly.  While not a bad ready by any means, it is not remarkable either.
