Book Review: Neon Genesis Evangelion Volume 5

Review:  #673
Title:  Neon Genesis Evangelion Volume 5
Series:  Neon Genesis Evangelion - 5th volume
Author:  Yoshiyuki Sadamoto
Read Before:  no
Comments:  While the volume focuses more on relationships, in particular, Masato and Kaji, and Shinji and Asuka, it still manages to carve out an epic plot.  The things hidden by NERV have begun to be revealed to the characters and it is nothing short of surprising.  You start to empathize with Shinji given his background and his relationship with his dad, it still doesn’t completely excuse his constant whining but it goes a long way.  As another Angel attacks and NERV gears up the Evas to combat, the different strategies employed and the one-chance nature of the mission kept you glued to the pages.  Punctuated by more lighthearted moments, Volume 5 is a great read.
