Book Review: Game Runner

Review:  #692
Title:  Game Runner
Series:  N/A
Author:  B.R. Collins
Read Before:  no
Comments:  Game Runner’s plot holds a lot of promise and it keeps promising more throughout the novel.  It takes place in the future where Earth is almost inhospitable.  Rick is the son of the creator of the Maze, a virtual reality program that brings your consciousness into the program.  As things spiral out of control, Rick wants to escape the luxurious complex that is his prison.  The author introduces a lot of new concepts but doesn’t do anything to help explain them, so it becomes confusing until the reader finally gets used to them more than halfway through the novel.  There are so many mysteries and plot points that you feel will be explained in the finale but they are all left unfinished, which is extremely disappointing.  Once you’ve finished, you realize that the plot doesn’t go anywhere , characters’ motivations are left unexplained and on the whole, the novel feels unfinished.
