Toy Review: Transformers Generations War for Cybertron Kingdom Cyclonus (Voyager)

Review:
#654
Name:  Cyclonus
Brand:  Transformers
Allegiance:  Decepticon
Line:  Generations - War for Cybertron:  Kingdom
Year of Release:  2020
Size Class:  Voyager (Wave 1)
Mold Status:  new

JET MODE:

Celebrating the 35th anniversary of the first animated Transformers movie, Cyclonus gets a new mold, transforming into the familiar purple jet.

This is a really good jet mode, and there are no obvious robot parts here, which is quite impressive.  The back is sculpted to look like thrusters.

In terms of size, Cyclonus is fairly large for a Voyager nowadays.  Above is a comparison against Titans Return Optimus Prime.

There are three flip down landing gear (sculpted wheels though) which is a nice touch.

The robot gun can peg onto a port on top.

All figures in the Kingdom line comes with a random card (which is actually a sticker that you can peel off to reveal the fate of a character).

This is a great jet mode.

TRANSFORMATION:

The transformation is just the right complexity.  The sides become the arms, and part of the wings fold back to form a nice silhouette.  The back of the jet extends to form the legs, and the cockpit nicely collapses into the torso.

ROBOT MODE:

Cyclonus' robot mode is great, if you think that his legs are too short, you are able to extend it a bit at the cost of the knees looking like their floating and disjointed.

As expected, Cyclonus is quite hollow, and most of it is covered well like his legs and arms.  His thighs are really obvious though.

The head sculpt is great and the best thing is that he has lightpiping.

Again, Cyclonus is a decent size, above is a comparison against Studio Series Optimus.

Cyclonus has excellent articulation, with joints for his head, shoulders, elbows, wrists, waist, hips, knees and ankles.

The wings behind his shoulders look great and this is a very clean robot.

Cyclonus comes with a silver gun (which itself is quite hollow).

Cyclonus can hold the gun in either hand.  The shade of purple of the plastic is perfect, and his thighs are painted in a nice metallic silver.

The ankle tilts helps a lot in posing.

This is an awesome robot mode and represents an excellent upgrade to the previous Classics figure.

OVERALL:

Cyclonus is long overdue an update in the Generations line, and this was worth the wait.  Both modes are fantastic and even if you're not a fan of the movie, you will come to appreciate how this figure just focuses on being a good Transformer.
